What
is HDTV?
HDTV
means High Definition Television. It refers to the resolution of the
screen, noted as a number of horizontal lines followed by 'i' or 'p'
(for 'interlaced' or 'progressive' scanning). Here are some examples:
Analog broadcast and cable TV - 480i
Digital cable TV and satellite - 480p
HD cable - 720p or 1080i

is key
To display HD content to it's maximum potential, you need an HDTV.(The
channels will display on a non-HD set, you just won't be able to enjoy
the same resolution.)You'll also need an HD box to decode the HD
signal. The programming must be in HD format. CRTV currently offers
14 HD channels and has plans to add more in the very near future.
You've
brought home your HDTV and you don't see a difference…
You'll need a programmed HD box to take advantage of HD programming.
No
equipment to purchase!
For one
low monthly fee, we provide the HD-DVR, digital access, 30 channels
of commercial-free digital music, and access to all of the digital channels
in the Basic Cable lineup (and in the Tier 1 lineup if you subscribe
to that package). You will also have access to the Preview i-Guide and
Pay Per View movies, special events and sports.
Own
Your Own Digital Box?
Save the monthly rental fee!
As long as you have a supported Motorola or Pace Box, we can activate it on our Cable System. Check with out customer service representatives for supported models and current activation and programming fees. (Please note that there is a $2.95
monthly digital feature fee for customer-owned boxes.)
Can't
always be home for your favorite shows?
If you
don't want to miss any of the action, CRTV offers HD personal video
recorders (DVRs) for rental. Think of a DVR as a VCR with a hard drive
instead of a tape, with many hours' storage, and a whole host of other
benefits that put you in charge of your TV viewing. HD will amaze your
senses - an HD-DVR will change your viewing forever.
Some
programs are awesome but others are not as crystal clear. Why?
As mentioned
earlier, the final piece of HD delivery is the way it is produced at
source. While there is much more programming done in true HD format,
some programming on the HD channels is still not in HD format. The good
news is that HD programming is on the rise. In addition to an increasing
amount of primetime, specialty and movie programming, there is a wide
selection of professional sports broadcasts, including several CFL and
NFL football games. And fans celebrating the return of the NHL can get
their fill of HD hockey every week.
